Spain U21 - Recognizing Build-Up Situations

๐ŸŽฅ Spain U21 - Recognizing Build-Up Situations

๐Ÿง‘โ€๐Ÿซ It is important to quickly recognize certain build-up situations when the ball is in dynamic play. Combination play on the ground can be on when we have numerical advantage in our defensive third (including the goalkeeper).

Spain U21 have a 6v4 scenario which allows them to play out of the back comfortably. The key then becomes in finding the free man to progress forward.

In this situation, we can observe how England's right winger has to decide wether to press the Spanish left-central defender or mark the left-back. This means that the free player will be whoever he decides not to go with.

โœ… In the last sequence of the action, once the ball has arrived to the left-back, you see how England's midfielder is forced to jump and press him, leaving the Spanish midfielder free to create a 2v1 situation.
