Real Betis - Occupation in Attacking Zones

🎥 Real Betis - Occupation in Attacking Zones

🧑‍🏫 Let's take a look at an transition moment (counterattack) by Real Betis against Villarreal last weekend in LaLiga:

⚪ When counterattacking, there are certain zones that we must play the ball into in order to occupy. This first zone/s are called the "assist zones" (white). This is where the majority of the assists originate from. It is important that the through ball is played targeting these spaces.

🔴 Secondly, the "red zone" (red) is where we should look to have our players make the attacking runs and "flood the box". Having players positioned here will give us the best chance to score a goal.

In this sequence, we can clearly see how the ball is played into the assist zone which later leads to the goal being scored from the red zone. Ideally, however, we would want more numbers in the red zone when the ball is being played in.
