AC Milan - Midfield Man-Marking

๐ŸŽฅ AC Milan implemented a tight midfield man-marking strategy this week in the Champions League with a 3v3 situation against Napoli, who are known to play attacking football.

๐Ÿง‘โ€๐Ÿซ AC Milan's strategy was to not allow inside combination play of Napoli by tightly marking their three midfielders with Bennacer, Krunic, and Tonali. Napoli were then forced to constantly play the ball in the outside channels as there was no free player in the inside spaces.

๐Ÿ” AC Milan positioned their defensive height in a Middle Block, which is where the marking and pressure on Napoli's midfielders began. With the middle solidified, Leao and Brahim were monitoring Napoli's full-backs while Giroud was left the to defend both center-backs and force the play to one side of the pitch.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Take notice of the way AC Milan's midfielders were marking. Tight, aggressive, leaving the opponent with little time and space to play the ball.
